Data centre rooms to protect
Nucleco is the Italian company responsible for radioactive waste management and for the decommissioning of nuclear and industrial sites.
The considerable number of devices causes the data centre rooms to overheat, which requires particular attention. What would happen if the air conditioning system failed and the room temperature exceeded the critical threshold of 40 degrees? Along with heat, humidity, water and unauthorised access are the risks to keep under constant control.
Four parameters, defined with the Nucleco team
Nucleco chose Sentinet³ as the environmental monitoring system for its data centre rooms. The parameters were defined based on the needs of the customer’s team.
Temperature
If the air conditioning system malfunctions and the temperature exceeds the critical threshold, Sentinet³ steps in and reports the critical status.
Humidity
Humidity in the data centre rooms must be kept at ideal levels: rising humidity could, over time, impair the operation of the devices.
Water detection
Humidity and flood sensors provide continuous control at the points where water can accumulate.
Intrusions
The rooms have single entrances and are always locked, but they are not entirely immune to malicious acts. With motion sensors and small cameras, Sentinet³ raises an alarm and makes it possible to identify intruders.
Data centre rooms under continuous control
- Timely reporting of critical temperature conditions.
- Continuous control of humidity and flooding at the points at risk.
- Alarms and identification of intruders, ensuring the security of the data centre rooms.
